That workflow does work, but I am now leaning towards using the 3dsmax method.
Unfortunately, Autocad crashes when I try to export anything that originated in maya.
My workflow now is Maya, send to 3dsmax, export 3dl.
Doing some pretty cool stuff with custom UV mapping on video surfaces!
